Some great new opportunities have just been added to our apprenticeship program!
WAL-43- Ice cream apprenticeship! Our farm is located in the town of Monroe, Waldo County. We have 63 acres of mixed hardwood, pasture and hay fields. We keep a 40' x 40' kitchen garden and also have a small orchard with apple, pear, plum and grapes. Our main focus is producing all natural ice cream. We use local milk (Hilltop Farm in Monroe), cream from Oakhurst Dairy, cane sugar and natural extracts and flavorings. We source Maine grown fruit and maple syrup when possible. We market our product through small stores in central Maine and through several scoop shops. We also retail from our concession stand (MobileCone) at 5 farmers markets as well as many fairs and festivals throughout Maine.
OXF-07- Goat Dairy- Our small growing farm located on a dead end road seven minutes from a small town. Our main focus is increasing our goat cheese sales and haying. We have a licensed cheese room and kitchen. Hope you can come join us to make our farm bigger and more self-sufficient.
SOM-19- Two Farms in one location- Intern on two farms at once on the beautiful the Sandy River in Starks, Maine. Sweet Land Farm grows winter squash on a large scale while cultivating unusual vegetable crops for ethic markets in southern Maine and for FEDCO Seed Cooperative seed trials. Songbird Farm is a new, certified organic veggie operation with an heirloom cornmeal speciality.
To apply for an apprenticeship on these or any of our other farms please visit www.mofga.org > Programs> Apprentice Program for an application.
