Position Description: The Farm Operations Manager position focuses on the effective and efficient implementation of the annual farm plan on our LEAF’s home farm. The Farm Operations Manager will organize and supervise crews of youth workers as well as working independently on farm tasks such as bed preparation, seeding, planting, post harvesting handling and pack out, record keeping, and customer interactions. A capacity for efficiency and a positive attitude is a necessary in this position. The Farm Operations Manager should be dedicated to LEAF’s mission, skilled in diversified vegetable production, and invested in fostering a vibrant and just local food system.
The primary areas of responsibility include:
Crop Plan Implementation: oversee annual crop plan, including plant propagation, bed preparation, seeding, cultivation, harvest, post harvest handling, delivery, etc.
Youth Mentorship: work alongside LEAF staff and youth leadership team to develop farm competencies checklist and standard operating procedures in basic farm tasks and oversee the implementation of farm skills assessments. Lead youth crew during farm work sessions (3x/week in spring. M-F in summer, 3x/week in fall) through providing instruction, feedback, and seeking opportunities to share responsibility
Farm Administration: oversee farm record keeping, customer management, invoicing, and communications with chef & farm partners

2+ years relevant experience sustainable vegetable production
Able to work outside in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold) and lift up to 50 lbs. safely
Ability to craft, manage, and maintain farm records, invoices, etc
Valid driver’s license

Compensation: This is a full time, full season (March-October) position at $14/hour (commensurate with experience), with significant opportunities for growth based on performance.
