Outreach Coordinator
Johnny’s is a multi channel retailer. We engage directly with our customers through direct mail, internet, and retail and through public education such as conferences, special events, tours and workshops, among others.

Description:
This position will provide ongoing and ad hoc support in communicating Johnny’s mission and overall work to the public. This will include organizing and overseeing Johnny’s presence at conferences, special events, tours and workshops, among others. Developing a wide variety of educational materials, signage, exhibits and more.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
 Be the lead person working with Research and Sales and other resource staff to plan for overall on-site educational events such as ‘Twilight Walk’, conferences, special events, tours and workshops.
 Coordinate the curriculum to be given by off-site employees or JSS spokespersons to ensure it aligns with JSS mission, and brand
 Develop and implement off-site educational displays at fairs, conferences and trade shows.
 Create content for various channels of communication such as JSS blog, web, Facebook and Twitter, to promote JSS outreach efforts.
 Coordinate and execute the ‘school box’ donation program for JSS
 Create orientation program and training for all new staff who will conduct tours and workshop leaders. Be a resource for other departments for staff development and training activities as it relates to Outreach activities.
 Be able to recognize, and make a compelling case in recommending opportunities for expansion of the Outreach program
 Other duties as assigned

Skills Required:
 People oriented individual who is skilled at representing a company in a wide variety of settings
 Well organized and detail oriented
 Excellent writing and proofreading skills
 Highly literate with online and social media
 Able to command attention and present in a small group or large audience setting
 Able to work independently on multiple projects
 High Proficiency with Word and PowerPoint
 Intermediate proficiency with excel

Experience Required:
College Degree, horticultural background a plus
At least 1 year experience (or equivalent) in education or outreach position with an emphasis on working with the public and presenting ideas to a variety of audiences
Travel as required based on events
Schedule may vary depending upon events and would include occasional nights and weekends
