Wonderful Farming Opportunity in Unity ME! - We are looking for an organic small-herd dairy farmer/cheesemaker to set up a farm business in complement to our other farm businesses - families welcomed and encouraged. An interest in Biodynamics is a major plus! Also potential for a sylviculture-based business - same terms (below). Join our exciting new venture on an old dairy farm in Unity Me - adjacent to MOFGA and Unity College - we are under contract to purchase this property in early spring 2019. Long-term land lease opening w/equity-building potential on homesite (housing = imminent priority). Unity Agricultural Center is offering a multiple farm operator arrangement (3 homesites) with strong emphasis on collaborating together to best steward the land while remaining autonomous as independent viable businesses. You also need to have an interest in periodically sharing work-time and expertise w/our "Bowsprit" program participants. "Bowsprit" is a non-profit (forming) which focuses on seasonal block enrichment sessions for local youth (16-22) in need of a practical-skills approach to learning and outside hands-on experience. Integrated into the program are studio and shop arts w/visiting faculty. This project is about local food security and a prototype transition to Biodynamic management, and inherently reflects a strong community ethic, founded in the spirit of caring about others and the building of healthful relationships w/each other, with nature and with this place in which we live.
