2019 Maine Herbalist Gathering Call for Presenters

Maine Herbalists
Sat, Mar 23, 10:35 PM (5 days ago)
to Maine, bcc: me

Hello Herbal Community!

We are excited to announce some details for our 2019 Maine Herbalist Gathering below and we are now accepting proposals for workshops and classes. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to share your wisdom with the Herbal Community of Maine!

Deadline for proposals: April 19th

Submit proposals to this email address in a 1 page pdf or word doc attachment. Include your name, business (if you have one), email, address, and phone number along with a title, short description and any special needs you have for your talk. Please write in the subject line of your email - MHG -presenter application 2019. Let us know what length the class you are applying with is - the options are 50 min. or 80 min. See draft schedule below.

From feedback we received after last years gathering we are specifically looking for classes in the following areas:
Native People’s traditional herbalism/herbal traditions/Wabanaki leaders
Autoimmune Diseases and Lyme
Native Maine plants and how to use them
LGTQIA+ focused courses and representation
Herbal first aid
Plant walks
Basic "how to make" hands on class- tincture/salve/etc.
You do not have to apply with a class idea in this area but we are on the lookout for these classes in response to the survey results we received.

Merryspring has one indoor classroom space, a gazebo and we will have additional tent spaces to have classes under. It is open to the public and located right off Route One, so stop by to walk the grounds, enjoy the gardens and trails, and see where this year's event will be. Note that we may not be able to accommodate all requests for equipment/media/etc. Preference will be given to presenters who did not teach last year and are Maine based herbalists.

Notification of participation via email: By April 29th
