This past spring we got 6 new chicks for our small flock. One of them turned out to be a rooster. At first we liked the idea: maybe he could keep the fox away and make the northern goshawk that hangs around think twice before dive bombing the hens again. But then his hormones really kicked in, and now the kids are afraid to go near the chicken run. He's also very loud and our neighbors are probably less than thrilled with his crowing all day starting before sun-up. Because our kids think of him as a pet, we don't want to kill or eat him. What we need is to find him a new home. He is a beautiful Ameraucana rooster, tall and proud. We'll give him to anyone who can use him. Contact Greg Westrich at 385-6654 or at anngreghenry@earthlink.net. Oh, it might be worth adding that we live in Glenburn, along Pushaw Lake.
