I hope that this is the correct place to post this...if not, moderators, please feel free to move or delete this post. (I am not a spambot! But I do believe that projects like this may be in the interest of this forum and its members)
I have been a MOFGA member for the past 3(4??) years but have never participated in the online community. However, I recently ran across the following Kickstarter which I believe fits very well with the interests of MOFGA and the community it supports: Growing Year Round Gourmet Mushrooms in Maine - http://kck.st/McxDFx
Specifically, this gentleman is working to become local food producer for his area with the goal of becoming a certified organic mushroom grower. He is looking to gather the support of his Maine neighbors in order to build his business as, I am sure, many here have.
I believe that crowd funding mechanisms (like Kickstarter) can be a valuable tool to allow small scale and local producers to deliver new agricultural products to all of us through our interest and support.
Full disclosure - I am in no way affiliated with this project beyond currently being a backer who has offered to spread the word about his campaign to potentially interested communities.
